Putin Meets PM Modi in India for 2+2 Talks

 

The News Cover: Yesterday on 6th December Russian President Vladimir Putin met PM Modi for a brief 5-hour visit. Why was the visit so brief? Russia is battling the COVID pandemic since 2020. this is because since then Putin did not travel anywhere outside Russia. Recently this year he met USA President Joe Biden in Geneva, Switzerland. After that this is his second meeting which was very brief. Despite the 5 hour visit, the international community is very excited. They are wondering why Puting is visiting and are speculating over possible India-Russia collaborations. 

Putin & Modi met for the '2+2 Talks'. These talks were between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with their Russian counterparts, Sergey Shoygu and Sergey Lavrov met to discuss strategic ties. Putin & Modi discussed various development innitiatives for both the countries. Putin called Modi a close friend and promised to aid India in future ventures such as India making military equipment instead of being the usual buyer as India has many skilled experts. 

Russia has agreed on this. India and Russia signed 28 agreements. Modi also spoke about the Chinese intrusion in Ladakh and Russia for help. Russia agreed. India-Russia also signed a 10-year military-technical partnership, to produce the AK-203 assault rifles in India.
