Nashik Oxygen Leak: 22 Dead, Angry Relatives Blame The Hospital For The Incident

The News Cover: On 21st April, closed to Nashik’s Dwarka at the government-owned Zakir Hussain Hospital around 700 patients were admitted for various reasons. Many of these were COVID patients and a majority of these had difficulty breathing.

They needed medical oxygen to breathe. Patients were being provided oxygen via pipelines from a tank, installed in the hospital premises. On 21st April, at around 12.20 pm, the hospital staff were refilling the oxygen tank using a tanker, as the oxygen levels had reduced. However, there was a leak in the tank and white fumes engulfed the area.

Because of the leak, the oxygen levels began to drop, and patients began suffocating. Hospital staff and fire department officials immediately tried to fix the leak. After 30 minutes they were able to stop the leak. However, the patients were without oxygen for 30 minutes. 22 patients died because of this.

Despite the doctors' attempts to resuscitate patients, the oxygen leak led to the passing of 22 individuals. Have a look at the video. The video was so dangerous. Doctors tried their best to revive patients but to no avail. An FIR has been registered against unidentified persons. Officials say it happened because of "negligence and carelessness".

PM Modi Tweeted about the incident saying: "The incident is heart-wrenching. Condolences to the bereaved families in this sad hour. Maharashtra CM furious over the incident, has ordered an investigation in the incident. Rs 5 lakh will also be given to each of the dead’s families.

Another shocking incident occurred in Virar near Mumbai. 13 coronavirus patients who were in an ICU have died in a fire. More information is awaited and an investigation is going on. Maharashtra and several other states across India are witnessing a huge spike in COVID cases but there is a shortage of oxygen which leads to difficulty in treating the patients.

Covid-19 News: Supreme Court Adjourns Case On Oxygen Emergency Till April 27

The News Cover: now amid, a shortage of oxygen supply, in the country the supreme court has agreed to hear Vedanta's plea for the opening of its Sterlite copper unit at Tamilnadu's duty Kerala as the company would produce a thousand tons of oxygen and give it free of cost to treat covid-19 patients.

the latest development in Tamilnadu opposes the opening of a sterile satellite plant. the state says it will create law and order problems the "chief justice of India" says we have no problem if the Tamilnadu government takes over the plant. the supreme court directs Tamil Nadu to file an affidavit and it will be taken up on Monday, what happened during the hearing there are two issues, one as for the straight light plant in Tamilnadu is concerned.

a chief justice was quite categorical saying, that when people are dying in their dire need of oxygen whether it's Vedanta ABC somebody should run it because is supposed to say that citing the 2018  incident. where more people died against the protests. against the streetlight plan, which is owned by Vedanta?

so Tamilnadu government said lawn, motor problem, will be there they don't want to open it but the court said if Tamilnadu can run it it's well and good so they it directed the government to respond by Monday. so that whether the plan can be run by Tamilnadu. which produces thousand metric tons of oxygen and secondly as for the other issue is concerned taking out yesterday.

the supreme court wanted a national plan from the government on few issues, like oxygen supply, essential drug supply, for covid also the management and manner in which the vaccination can be done throughout the "nation so central government" wanted to time till Tuesday supreme court agreed.

but in between a lot of heated exchanges went between the lawyers and the three judgments headed by the chief justice because yesterday there were a few lawyers open saying that the supreme court should not take away the cases from the high courts. which is being heard? by them right from Bombay, Delhi, and few other high courts across the country.

so chief justice was saying that the "intention of the supreme court" was only on the interstate movement of the oxygen. just this year nageshwara, who is part of the bench said that it's very absurd people are talking like that the two senior advocates, who should protect the institution and court, never said anything against high courts, and a third judge justice Ravindra but also said that court never stole the I court from hearing. it so anyway port said that it will take up the case on tuesday right.

Increase in Coronavirus Cases Because of Kumbh Mela

The News Cover: Currently in India, many have thronged the auspicious festival, 'Kumbh Mela' in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. India is currently dealing with a huge spike in Coronavirus cases, there is a shortage of hospital beds and vaccines but large number of devotees continue to visit the Ganga River in Haridwar for the Mela.

The auspicious day of Shahi Snan was on 12th April and lakhs performed the ritualistic bath. Devotees were not even wearing clothes. The Health Minister's appeal to wear masks, sanitize & social distance, was completely ignored by the large crowd.

Thousands of saffron-clad seers and ash-smeared Nagas were seen without masks, with no social distancing. Officials claimed since Uttarakhand has made negative RT-PCR tests mandatory for all, the crowds are not a major concern.

You may remember that last year, in Delhi, international leaders of Tablighi Jamaat - a Muslim organization - had gathered at the Markaz Nizamuddin mosque for a conference that lasted many days.

This had led to a major spike in cases. Many Hindu groups had targeted the community for the spread of the virus. People are saying that the same Hindus who were targetting Muslims are celebrating the Kumbh Mela.

During an interview, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said: People’s health is a priority but matters of faith cannot be totally ignored. I am taking full responsibility to ensure that COVID norms are being followed.

All arrangements have been made in the Mela area. When the Markaz was held there was not much awareness. Now there is enough and we are managing the situation. We even have officials keeping a watch 24x7. Despite the CM’s claims, Uttarakhand had logged 1,925 cases with 13 deaths in 24 hours on 13th April.

India Politicians COVID Rules VS Common Man COVID Rules

The News Cover: If you're sitting in a car alone without wearing a mask, you will be fined by the police. But on the other hand, If our politicians do a rally with thousands of people without wearing a mask, even then no one would levy a fine on them.

We're habituated to live such a life. Where there are different rules and regulations for the common man, and different rules and regulations for the special VIPs. But do you know? There are some countries in the world where this doesn't happen.

There's equality in the truest sense. Take Norway as an example. Norway imposed a rule which said not more than 10 people should gather at a place. But the Prime Minister of Norway threw a birthday party which was attended by 13 people. 3 more than the law permitted. Norway's police fined her 20,000 Norwegian Krone.

It amounts to ₹1.75 Lakh. In fact, the Norwegian police said that if it were a common citizen violating the rule, they wouldn't have fined them. But the Prime Minister has much more responsibility. The citizens would follow the example set by the country's leader.

That's why the Norwegian Prime Minister was fined. This is called the Rule of Law, friends. That the law of the country is correctly and equally imposed on everyone. Think about it. What kind of country do you want?

The News Cover: 4 petitions were filed in the Delhi High Court. On 7th April, Justice Prathiba M Singh reviewed the petitions. They were challenging the collection of fines for not wearing a mask in public. Singh dismissed all petitions. It is now mandatory to wear masks in Delhi.

Petitioners challenged wearing of masks in cars when the driver is alone. The court said just like masks are mandatory in public places, it will be mandatory in cars even if the person is alone. The judge said when a person is alone in the car and stop at a red light,

they roll down their mirrors to chat with people, beggars, food vendors, etc. In this way, the virus can spread if the driver has not worn the mask. Sometimes people spit and spread the virus. This is why it is best to wear a mask. The judge dismissed the petitions.

The court even rebuked the lawyers for accepting such a case. They said the lawyers should advice the petitioners to wear a mask. It said if lawyers do this then people will follow their example. This will keep Delhi safe and contain the cases.

India Crosses 1-Lakh Mark In Daily COVID-19 Cases For First Time

The News Cover: now India has crossed the one lakh mark's it's reported more than one lack of coronavirus cases in 24 hours remember this is the first since the pandemic began that India has reported these many cases crossed at one lakh mark in a 24 hour period one lakh three thousand five hundred and fifty-eight cases reported.

in the last 24 hours let's go across to the numbers 478 deaths in the last 24 hours and the total recovery and active cases so far are 7 lakh 41 830 and the number of deaths due to coronavirus in the country

so far is one lakh 65 thousand one hundred and one so a big breaking news India has crossed that one lakh mark if we can show you the coronavirus curve in the country and you can see how the peak from the last wave is lower than the peak from this wave and this wave has been a lot steeper as well it as you can see

the climb is has been a lot steeper we'll just bring up that wave in just a moment but let's go to the graph and let's go across we've crossed that very grim milestone reporting over one lakh cases in 20 for Maharashtra of course

the worst affected state announcing measures but tell us more about what the government is now doing well as far as the measures are concerned the manager government has already said that if there is no other option there will be a lockdown once again there will be certain restrictions as far as the central government is concerned yes there have been certain meetings that have taken place in the past few days

there is no clarity as to how the government is planning to put curbs as far as fan India is concerned because the number of cases has in fact reached the highest as far as 24 hours are concerned more than one lakh three thousand cases now this is the highest ever number of forever 19 cases the last time

the number was around 97 000 even at the peak on 17th December when we were talking the number of highest last year or the graph, however, was less cheap than this one because in just February we saw that less than 10 000 cases were being reported and we are here just in the starting of April and the numbers have already crossed one lakh mark

now this is going to be a big worry not only for the government but also for the people and the healthcare workers who are working around the clock as far as containment measures are concerned treating people are concerned and not long before the number of 419 cases will not only be concentrated in just Maharashtra because a lot of people who have been traveling from Maharashtra to other states there is always a worry that the cases might spread to other states as well

The News Cover: India continues to see a record daily surge in new covert 19 cases the country has recorded 81,400 plus new covid-19 cases and that in just the last 24 hours making it the highest daily rise in India in the last 6 months India's health ministry showed the total number of cases at 12.3 million only

the united states and brazil have higher total cases than India vaccination drives have been intensified amid the recent surge and many states are considering imposing fresh restrictions to curb the movement of people the western state of Maharashtra has been the worst hit in India and reported over 43,000 new cases

it's highest since the pandemic began in March last year the state government has imposed a night curfew over the weekend but is also considering imposing stricter control measures infection numbers were also up in the states of Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Madrid, with 469 new deaths,

the country's death toll rose to 163 000 deaths meanwhile cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar announced that he was hospitalized few days after testing positive for corvid he said in a tweet that he had been hospitalized as a precautionary measure

Maharashtra COVID-19 cases will take in only 50% of Private offices in their capacity till March 31 surge

The News Cover: let's take a look at the situation of coronavirus in india you can see india's total number of cases well past one crow 15 lakh mark the daily number of cases 39,726 nearly 40,000 daily cases those cases have been gradually rising but out of 39,726 cases 25,800 cases are from the state of Maharashtra.

alone if you look at this the daily how the number of cases are look here how the graph has been gradually rising after the mid of February you can see this curve over here how the how the graph has gradually risen this is a big worry right now in the country the gradual rise in the number of cases

let's now dig into deeper detail now they said this is the highest increase in daily covid cases since the 29th of november 2020 maharashtra has recorded the highest single day increase in covid cases ever since the beginning of the pandemic last year maharashtra right now maharashtra accounts for 65 percent of all new covid cases so maharashtra continues to be the big,

wadi state punjab here punjab has recorded fastest increase in daily cases so the the other big worry state now is punjab punjab has recorded the fastest increase in daily number of cases the fresh there are now fresh corporate restrictions with the states and the cities are imposing in order to arrest the Covid spike let's look at maharashtra first religious social gatherings have been banned in maharashtra for the moment so that the government hopes to arrest the spike in the number of covid cases knight curfew in nine most affected districts in punjab have been extended by 12 hours earlier

the night curfew was beginning at 11 pm in the night now the night curfew in these nine worst affected districts will begin at 9:00 pm in the night so that night curfew extended by two hours now if you see the india's daily cases in the last seven days you can see how they have risen over the last seven days on the 13th of march it was around 24,800 cases now from twenty four thousand eight hundred through thirty nine thousand seven hundred cases

how the cases have been steadily rising over the last one week the top five states with the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours as we said maharashtra right there with a big bar over there of 25,800 cases their highest ever spike since the beginning of the pandemic punjab has jumped to number two so punjab is the next big quarry state as he said with 2369 cases

if you look at the death figures also there also punjab has become a new worry punjab number two with 32 deaths maharashtra remains at the top with over 50 deaths in the last 24 hours followed by kerala tamilnadu and karnataka now mumbai's dharavi is another focus point now in maharashtra because dharavi is now recording a steady rise in cases you can see month on month from january to february to march the cases have been rising steadily now in mumbai's dharavi there's been a 35 spike in cases compared to january now this is the latest circular

the government of maharashtra has released imposing fresh restrictions let's take you through some of them the most important here is that all drama theaters and auditoriums in the state to operate at 50 capacity now there will be no entry without proper wearing of masks temperature measuring devices to be to be used to ensure that no one with fever gets an entry there will be adequate hand sanitizers to be kept at various convenient locations and concerned establishments to ensure presence of enough manpower to enforce wearing of mass as well as social distancing by all visitors at all times.

so this is regarding drama theaters and auditoriums in the state which will now be operating at 50 capacity and the other important thing is here that all private offices except related to health and other essential services to function at 50 capacity so all private hospitals accept health and essential services will be functioning at 50 capacity that's what the maharashtra government is saying of course the the 50 staff which will be coming into the offices

will follow all the cobit precautions that's what the government is saying right now so that they can arrest the spread of coronavirus in the state of maharashtra so private offices at 50 capacities except those related to health and essential services and drama theaters and auditoriums in the state to operate at 50 capacity with these various restrictions so that's the situation of coronavirus in the country.

corona update: India on brink of second COVID-19 wave

The News Cover: now the Covid-19 pandemic continues to rage across India and indeed across the world and the country has now recorded its biggest single-day spike in over three months with close to about 40 000 new infections and over 150 fatalities linked to cover 19.

now even as India continues to expand its vaccination drive the question that remains on top of everyone's mind is India now on the brink of another wave of Covid-19 remember India recorded 39 726 new cases of infections in just the last 24 hours this is the highest tally in the last three months the country's also reported nearly about 154 fatalities with the maximum number of casualties having been reported,

the state of Maharashtra and what is also interesting is that most of these new infections have been reported in these southern more developed nation-states, where testing is on a much higher scale now on the other hand India's vaccination drive has also been steadily expanding over 39.3 million vaccine doses,

have been administered so far in the country since the pandemic began India has confirmed over 11 million cases of infections and just a little over 159 000 deaths the country has also recorded the second-highest number of comet 19 infections in the world after just the united states of America.

India's Fresh Covid-19 Cases Hit A Two-Month High Of 22,854

The News Cover: now to the latest number of Covid-19 cases that have been reported, in the last 24 hours India has reported over 22,000 cases this is the highest number it's 22,854 new cases that India has added to its total tally it's the highest number of new cases added in over two months last time the cases were this high was in December.

this a matter of concern the numbers are surging constantly, and now this is the highest number of cases reported, in the last two months India's surging covert cases are definitely a matter of concern at this point of time if we look at the trajectory in just the last seven days and look at the daily cases they've gone up from about somewhere near sixteen thousand to over twenty-two thousand now and today's,

spike of twenty-two thousand eight hundred and fifty-four cases is the highest in over two months last time cases were this high was on December 26 when we reported 22,273 cases certain states definitely the bigger concern with states like "Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, and Gujarat" which are among the top five states that are reporting high cases. center, on one hand,

is taking several steps to control the cases across states they've sent their central teams to monitor these cases what are the reasons behind the search apart from that the "union health secretary" has been holding regular meetings review meetings with the chief secretaries of states certain states have also been asked to ramp up vaccinations in the worst affected districts reporting high surge,

so center at this point coming up with multiple strategies to control the surgeon cases but definitely at this point of time, this is a worry because India had started seeing a decline and certain even including the health minister union health minister had recently said that India could be in the endgame of the pandemic.
