The News Cover: Telecom workers continue to provide uninterrupted services. Just as doctors, nurses, and various frontline workers are being vaccinated on an emergency basis, so should telecom workers. To this end, a letter has been written from the telecom department to the Union Ministry of Health.

The Department of Telecom (DOT) said in a letter dated March 16 that it supported the request of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) in this regard. Telecommunications Secretary Anshu Prakash said there was no doubt that the Telecom Field Force was working tirelessly to ensure uninterrupted data and voice services across the country and that the risk of CVVID-19 was high in this endeavor.

Therefore, telecom workers should be labeled as 'telecom warriors', and this request should be considered favorably, the telecom ministry said. However, the central government and the health ministry are working together to provide the vaccine to people across the country. But in a country with a large and huge population like India, it is a huge challenge. Telecom workers have to work in the field, so the risk is higher. However, the central government and the health ministry could not immediately confirm this.
