8 Lions Test Positive for Coronavirus in Hyderabad

At the Nehru Zoological Park (NZP) in Hyderabad, a wildlife veterinarian at the zoo noticed the lions exhibiting symptoms such as fatigue, coughing, nasal discharge, and a loss of appetite. 

Subsequently, swab samples of 12 lions were taken and sent to the CCMB Lab in Hyderabad for testing. Of the 12 lions at the zoo, four males and four females tested positive. They are shocked as to how the animals got infected. The Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change advised, the Hyderabad zoo to remain close to the public to keep the animals safe. 

The Zoo accepted and kept shut their doors from 1st May. They suspect the animals were infected when 25 staff tested positive. The lions were infected by the old coronavirus.
