The News Cover: Gujarat is Prime Minister Modi's home state. He was its CM and then went on the become India's PM. Making, buying, selling or transporting alcohol is illegal in the state of Gujarat. Anyone caught selling alcohol will be punished by hefty fines and even prison sentences for large crimes. Recently 3 farmers from Chiloda which is in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, were brothers named Dinesh Thakor, Ambaram Thakor and Ravi Thakor were arrested for selling of hooch. However, story of their arrest is very strange. Let me tell you about it. The brothers saw that their buffaloes were acting strangely. They were jumping uncontrollably and frothing at the mouth.

They ignored it but the next day, they witnessed the same behaviour. The brothers called a local veterinarian to inspect the animals. The doctor arrived, he inspected the water trough from which the animals would drink water. The doctor observed a strange smell and found the water to be coloured. The brothers told doctor that branches from a tree and had fallen in the trough which is why it changed its colour. The doctor prescribed medicines and left but he was very suspicious. The vet then informed the local police about the incident. The police raided the place on 5th July.

On inspection, they found 100 bottles of hooch in the water trough. The cops were stunned by the brothers behaviour and seized the loot. The 100 bottles of alcohol were worth ₹ 32,000. The men had hidden bottles of hooch in the trough to avoid getting caught. A few of the bottle broke and contaminated the water. This is how the Buffaloes got drunk. The brothers have been arrested, while the buffaloes have recovered and are now stable.

The News Cover: Amidst the 2nd wave of the coronavirus, people in Gujarat fearing infection, have taken to a weird trick to protect themselves. You will be shocked on learning about it. In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, there is a cow shelter run by Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Prathisthanam (SGVP) and it cares for more than 200 cows. For the last one month, around 15 persons would visit the shelter every Sunday. These included doctors, nurses, people working at medical stores, and other frontline workers.

They would visit the shelter and apply a paste of cow dung and cow urine on their bodies. After this, they would perform Yoga and hug or honor the cows at the shelter. Once the paste dries it is then washed off with milk. They did this because they believed applying cow dung & urine to the body would strengthen the immune system against COVID-19. Have a look at this video clip.

Doctors were shocked and rubbished the claims. Dr. Mona Desai, chairperson of the women's wing of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) said, "The claims of Cow dung and urine strengthening the immune system are baseless. There is no proof to back these absurd claims. Cow dung is nothing but body waste. It is of no use. Instead of proving helpful, cow dung can cause a lot of problems.

Cow dung contains many infections and can also cause Black Fungus. People are unnecessarily coming up with these weird ideas. If a person wants to strengthen the immune system against COVID-19, it is better to seek a doctor who will give tips on healthy habits. I hope people do not fall prey to such absurd ideas.

The News Cover: There is a spike in coronavirus infections in India and the mortality rate has increased too. India had a limited number of crematoriums as the mortality rate was low. Cremations have increased because of coronavirus infections, old age, and other health ailments. People have had to wait for 8-12 hours in a queue to cremate COVID patients.

This is happening in Gujarat for the last 1 week. In Surat, Gujarat around 25 bodies were cremated simultaneously on wood pyres at night. Officials said, Hindus generally do not cremate the dead after sunset but because of the coronavirus, crematoriums are full and there are long queues.

This is why 25 people were cremated simultaneously. Gujarat authorities have reopened defunct facilities to cremate the increasing number of dead in the state. Metal pyres that utilise less wood have been installed to speeden the cremation process by generating more heat. Another incident was reported in Chhattisgarh.

A garbage truck which did not contain any trash, was used to ferry the bodies of patients who died of COVID-19 to the crematorium. How shocking! The workers were wearing PPE suits and transporting the bodies. The shocking incident is because of shortage of ambulance amidst the spike in cases.

The News Cover: In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, there is a school named Udgam School. There was a female student who had played a weird prank. The student was very stressed over the offline exams as she was not at all prepared. All this while during the online classes, she could copy and had a lot of freedom.

Being very afraid of offline exams she posted a message on various WhatsApp groups. In the message she said, many of the students in Udgam school have tested positive for COVID-19 after appearing for the offline exams. The message went viral and parents were shocked. They refused to send their children to school for the offline exams. On investigation, it was found that all the students were fine.

After further digging, the message was traced to the female student. The student confessed and said she did it out of fear as she wanted to avoid offline exams. She had a gala time at home. During online classes she would minimize the screen, and have fun. The offline exams caused her anxiety as she wasn't prepared.

This is why she spread the message. The student apologised and the school did not file a police complaint. The school refrained from filing a complaint and let her off with a warning. Hvovi Bhagwagar is a counselling psychologist. She said that this is not the first time. There are many such cases among students and Young Adults. Everyone were very comfortable with online classes.

They would come up with multiple ways to enjoy while attending the online classes. But transitioning to offline classes made many uncomfortable. There have been many incidents about such pranks. Let me tell you. In February, 2021, a passenger was sitting in the flight. A person next to him was recording a video on the sly.

The passenger suddenly started shouting about him being COVID+ and created a scene. The other person recorded the entire incident to go viral on social media for publicity. Even in Moscow, Russia, a person pretended to collapse due to COVID-19. This was a prank and he intended to go viral. The police arrested him and imprisoned him for 5 years.
