Society In Mumbai Scammed into Fake Vaccine Camp

 

The News Cover: A housing society in Mumbai's Kandivali named Hiranandani Heritage Residents Welfare Association (HHRWA) had organized a COVID vaccination camp. The HHRWA had organized the camp through a person named Pandey, who claimed to be a sales representative of a reputed private hospital in Andheri. He helped to organize the camp. As many as 390 members received the jabs at the camp at ₹ 1,260 per person. However, when the society members received their vaccination certificates, they were shocked to see that the certificates had names of different hospitals. 

Certificates were in the name of Nanavati Hospital, Lifeline Hospital, and NESCO Covid Camp, etc. Society became very doubtful on seeing the names of different hospitals. A society member contacted Nanavati Hospital and other hospitals, and they said they had never organized any vaccination drive. Plus when the members checked their account on the Co-WIN website, there was no record of their vaccination. The HHRWA also said that post-vaccination, none of the people had the usual after-effects like fever, cold, rashes, etc. The HHRWA did not even receive receipt after paying for the vaccines. This casts major doubts in their minds. The members had received the Covishield vaccine. 

They were skeptical whether the dose they received was real or fake. They wondered whether the dose was just glucose solutions or expired vaccines. The society members had serious doubts as they did not witness any of the side effects. The society then filed a complaint with the police about the matter. BMC has made it mandatory for private vaccination providers and housing societies to sign a MoU. Once the MoU has been signed then the vaccination camp can be held.
