Wrestler Sushil Kumar Arrested in Murder Case

The News Cover: Indian Wrestler Sushil Kumar was involved in a brawl that led to the death of wrestler Sagar Rana and severely injured 2 others. After Rana’s death, a Delhi Court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Sushil Kumar. Delhi police announced a Rs 1 lakh reward for information leading to the arrest of Sushil Kumar. A similar reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for information against his associate Ajay Kumar. However, for 3 weeks Sushil Kumar has evaded arrest from the police. 

The police have been raiding several places around Delhi in search of the wrestler. Finally, on 23rd May, both Sushil and Ajay were arrested in Delhi’s Mundka area. Ironically, the champion wrestler was arrested on World Wrestling Day. The athlete, who used to be wrapped in the Indian tricolor after winning medals for the nation, had his face masked by a towel and both hands held by the Delhi Police. Sushil was physically produced in court. During the court proceedings, the police said the duo need to be in jail for 12 days for further interrogation. 

The police want to interrogate Sushil & Ajay to find out the motive behind the brawl that killed Sagar Rana. The police also said that Sushil had asked his friend to record a video while Sagar Rana and his friends were being beaten up. This is because Sushil wanted to establish his fear to ensure no one would oppose him. This is why the Delhi Police want to question him. However, the court ordered that Sushil Kumar and his associate Ajay Kumar would stay in custody for 6 days.
