The News Cover: On 25th April, the IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals ended in a tie. This was the 1st match that ended in a tie in this season's IPL. Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bat first. The two opening batsmen remained on the pitch scoring 81 runs for no loss. However, immediately after both, the players were dismissed in quick succession. Delhi Capitals managed to score 159/4.
Hyderabad's chase started with a bang, but SRH lost wickets at regular intervals. However, the match ended in a tie. Both teams scored 159 runs. Kane Williamson held down the fort for Hyderabad by scoring 66 runs and ended the match in a tie. He remained not out. The match went to a 6-ball Super Over.
Two batsmen from Hyderabad came out to bat against Delhi's ace bowler Axar Patel. Patel bowled very well and limited Hyderabad to only 7 runs. SRH had actually scored 8 runs, so why was 1 run deducted. Ideally, when a batsman takes a run, the bat must touch the crease and go for the 2nd run. But Hyderabad's batsman did not touch the crease. This is why one run was not counted.
When it was Delhi's turn to bat, Rashid Khan came out to bowl against Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan. It was a close call but both played well and secured a victory. If it had not been for SRH's short-run, the super over would have also been a tie. But the DC won the match. Yesterday there was another IPL match between Chennai Super Kings & Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Harshal Patel came in to bowl the last over for RCB. He was up against Chennai's Ravindra Jadeja who hit multiple sixes. He scored 37 runs in 6 balls. Such a high score in one over has never happened in IPL history. On the first 3 balls bowled by Patel, Jadeja scored consecutive sixes. But the 3rd ball was a no-ball.
This is why a free hit was given. Jadeja hit a 6 in the free-hit as well. He scored 2 runs on the fourth ball. On the 5th & 6th, Jadeja scored a 6 and a boundary respectively. Thus making a total of 37 runs in a super over. There are many batsmen who have scored 36 runs in 6 balls. There are 6 such batsmen. Some of their names are Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle & Kieron Pollard. Now Jadeja joins the list as the 7th person.
